My Pastor gave me a small magazine titled PERSONAL PRODUCTIVITY DIGEST. I started reading it yesterday and it has made an impact on me. An article written by
Saint Ekoh of
Wisdom House Abuja really made an impression on my heart.
All my life, I have always defined Productivity as OUTPUT divided by INPUT. That is the way we were thought to measure productivity in school. The author faulted that definition and went ahead to define productivity as a measure of VALUE created divided by the TIME it took to create such value.
Value is further broken down into the following components:
ImpactWhatever value you think you have created has to be measured in terms of the impact it has on people. Did your value affect 10people or 1,000 people. I think that is simple enough to understand.
DurabilityHow durable is the value created. Is it such that last for 1day, 1week, 1month, 1year or a lifetime. Buying a bottle of soft-drink for someone is not as durable as sponsoring a student through school.
EssenceThe essence of the value created is equally important. Is it such that it is unique and rare, or is it common place. The discovery of a new drug for a terminal disease is of greater essence than the pleasure of a 30minutes comedy play.
VolumeThis has to do with the quantity of the value created. How much of it did you produce. In a day, in a week etc.
At the end of the article, I couldn't help by agree that the true formula for measuring productivity is
PRODUCTIVITY = (Impact x Durability x Essence x Volume) / TimeWhat is your opinion?
