Well, i would say that hearing from God is relatively easy when we put our minds to it, remember that the bible says to love the Lord our God with all our heart, might, soul and strength.

Now just consider it, if we love the Lord our God that much, with the whole of our being and spirit, what percentage of our being will then be left for unwholesome practice?
Nothing!!. And someone you love with such intensity, won’t He rather speak to you in response to you devotion and constant (harassment).

So that is the way to hear from God.

When you are in love with God, you read his words (the bible), when you are in love with him you meditate on the words you have read, when you are in love with him you pray without ceasing not necessarily shouting, shutting your eyes, or kneeling down, because your activities may not permit you to indulge in the religious practices at that particular point in time, but you are in constant touch, with the divine, halleluiah!!!. Your mind is under control, you let the spirit brood over you, and before long, you will be bobbling out because you can not hold it, remember Prophet Jeremiah, and the word of God in his bones like wild fire, it will definitely affect your whole life inside and out side. And you know what, it gives you an edge as a Christian because He will tell  you things through His Holy spirit, things that other are dying to hear, he will comfort you in hard times, deliver you warn you, oh so numerous benefits to be able to hear from God I tell you.

Yea, most times it is talk talk and talk  and someone will say, easier said than done, well let’s all pray for the grace because it is possible to hear from God, and have a personnel intimae, functioning working relationship with the holy spirit!!!!
