When you read Genesis 1:26-31 and you combine it with Jeremiah 29:11 what comes to your mind?
1. What is your expectation? – Is fear dictating to you - Job 3:25? It is actually possible to be working hard everyday without having a clearly defined goal or objective. There is a self-deception that makes people feel good just because they are busy! Your success in life is not about how busy you are but the result you are getting in life! It is not how much time you spend doing a thing but the result you get out of the activity that really matter.
2. God did not spend His precious time to create a nonentity! Jeremiah 1:5 says before I was conceived, God already had a plan. Psalm 139:14 says I’m wonderfully and fearfully made. 1 Peter 2:9 says I am supposed to show forth the Excellence of God! (ASV)
3. So why am I where I am? – Simple, it is ignorance of what am suppose to be doing or unwillingness to do what I ought to do.
4. Define your expectation by setting Goals? – A goal is an aim or purpose. If you feel your life has been drifting like a ball placed on a stream, then it is time you settle down and write down your goal in life. We will actually make significant progress in our lives if we take out time to define what it is we are aiming at. Don’t be a ball on the stream. Stop floating or following others about. Sit down and ask yourself some necessary questions?
5. You need to set goals in every area of your life – Every areas of our lives require us setting goals.
6. You need to write your goals down. Zig Ziglar says, “Written goals transform you from a wandering generality into a meaningful specific.”
7. You need to check the goals with the word of God – Proverb 3:5-6, Proverb 14:12, Isaiah 48:17
